French speaking COBOL Developer with iSeries experience for a private bank in Geneva
Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) | Fluent French required | Open to EU citizens currently eligible to work in Switzerland
About the role
Our client is a global IT consultancy providing long-term technology services to financial institutions across Europe. They are currently looking for an experienced COBOL Developer to support one of their clients, a respected private bank in Geneva. The bank runs critical operational processes on an iSeries (AS/400) platform and is currently preparing for a product replacement project.
This is a permanent position where you will be involved in the maintenance and evolution of legacy systems supporting key operational processes. You will also participate in a product replacement project and act as backup for the manager of the bank’s CTF product, requiring both technical expertise and functional insight.
Responsibilities

Maintain and support the bank’s in-house solution built on iSeries (AS/400) using COBOL

Perform daily operational monitoring, including during certain public holidays

Provide backup support for the manager responsible for the CTF product

Adapt the interface to accommodate evolving functional and technical needs

Analyse the current interface and contribute to the future system replacement project

Support users and ensure stable day-to-day operations
Requirements
-
6–10+ years of experience with iSeries (AS/400) and COBOL development
-
Proficient in COBOL/SQL, COBOL ILE, and CLP
-
Strong SQL and database management skills

Ability to understand and work with proprietary data exchange protocols

Fluent in French (spoken and written) – mandatory

EU citizenship and Swiss residency or willingness to relocate

Reliable, independent, and structured working style
Would be a plus

Experience with accounting-related systems or financial products

Previous experience working in the banking sector

Involvement in legacy-to-modern system transitions
